Cyber Crimes Unit of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) warned social media platform users of publishing what may embarrass and expose them to blackmail.
Through a recent post on its Facebook official page, the Cyber Crimes Unit stated the following:
- Remember that protecting your personal information on social media platforms is your own responsibility. You can decide whether to share it with the others or make it private.
- Your decision of sharing your own photos and information can make you a victim of cybercrime.
- Do not publish what could embarrass you, otherwise you can be exposed to blackmail.
- Do not share your personal information or secrets with social media friends, and remember that they are strangers.
